Our history

In 2020, the Circular Plastics Taskforce (CPT) was created through a collaboration between Cascades, Danone, Dyne-a-Pak, Keurig Dr Pepper Canada, TC Transcontinental and the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC), who joined forces to help build a circular economy for plastics in Quebec and Canada. A trusted financial partner and advisor since the early days, Éco Entreprises Québec (ÉEQ) joined the Steering Committee in 2021.
Since its inception, the group’s unique collaborative approach has attracted support from government and industry partners across North America. After receiving financial support from the federal government for the deployment of Phase I of its project, the CPT is also receiving support from the Quebec government, which has granted the CPT half a million dollars to support the implementation of Phase II.

The GAPC is now counting on the support of the Government of Quebec, which has awarded it a grant of half a million dollars to support the mission of the consortium as well as the implementation of Phase II.

Our Mission

The CPT focuses on a better alignment between market needs and recycling actors to propose concrete solutions to optimize plastics management along the value chain in a circular economy perspective. In doing so, the CPT aims to support, at the local and national level, the strengthening of existing and emerging markets and to contribute to improving the industry's performance in order to produce a higher quality of recycled materials to meet demand.

Our vision

That all plastic packaging put on the market in Quebec and Canada be collected and recycled in keeping with market needs (volumes, grades, quality), to create a circular economy.
